“I’ve always believed in investing in myself – there’s no better way to spend your money, and there’s never a lack of return on investment for learning.”

#WomenWhoBuild meet Natalia Correa,

Natalia is a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson for Compass in New York City. Her mission, to educate her clients about all aspects of real estate, has led her to create her own video series called @TheBrooklynBroker, where she offers Real Estate tips and insights to her viewers. Natalia, who is originally from Colombia, received her degree from Stony Brook University and started as one of the first employees at Urban Compass, now Compass, in 2013.

ArchNative sat down with Natalia (virtually of course) to discuss her journey in Real Estate, how she utilizes social media to grow her business, and what her typical day looks like.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your journey in Real Estate?

My real estate journey started in 2013 when I was invited to be one of the first employees at Urban Compass, now Compass, a high-tech real estate company (at the time a $20M company, currently valued at $6.4B).

In 2015 I became one of the company's independent residential real estate agents and now run my own business under Compass.

I haven't looked back since. I always knew that my drive and tenacity for success would help me land a great career.

Can you tell us a little bit about your "The Brooklyn Broker" video series?

There's so much to know and understand as a seller or buyer, and Brooklyn is a whole different market! I wanted to share everything I've learned from my years in the industry and provide valuable information and tips to help buyers and sellers navigate the real estate market in Brooklyn. And I wanted to do it in an approachable, witty, informative, and educational way, and that's where the idea for the video series came to be.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Each day is different. As an entrepreneur, I’ve had to learn to master the gift of multi-tasking and wearing many hats. Each day varies between client meetings, showing properties, staging, marketing, administrative duties, open houses, property closings, home inspections, plus more. A typical day will be a collection of these tasks depending on the needs that day.

How has social media impacted your career?

Social media has helped me extend my reach to people I may not have met otherwise and has the platforms to share advice and helpful content through my video series ‘The Brooklyn Broker.’ Not only that, but it also provides a fantastic opportunity to show off the visuals of the properties I sell.

What is one piece of advice you have for women entering the field?

My advice to anyone entering the field is to create a business plan and hire a real estate coach or find a mentor. Sit down, think about, and plan what you want to achieve and how you can provide value as a real estate agent, and find somebody who already has it figured out and learn from them! If you can, hire a real estate coach. A coach will serve as your adviser, accountability partner, champion, and supporter.

I’ve always believed in investing in myself – there’s no better way to spend your money, and there’s never a lack of return on investment for learning.
